Preparing Your Ingredients
Gather all your ingredients – ketchup, brown sugar, and Worcestershire sauce.
Measure out 1 cup of ketchup, 1/2 cup of brown sugar, and 2 tablespoons of Worcestershire sauce. Place them in separate containers for easy access while cooking.
Let's Get Saucy!
Place a medium saucepan on the stove and set the heat to medium.
Pour in your measured ketchup, and then add the brown sugar and Worcestershire sauce.
Grab that wooden spoon and give it a good stir to combine all the ingredients. You want that brown sugar to start dissolving and melding with the ketchup and Worcestershire sauce.
Simmer and Infuse
Now, it's time to let the magic happen. Keep the heat at medium and let your sauce simmer for about 5 minutes. Stir occasionally to make sure everything is mingling nicely. After the sauce has simmered for around 5 minutes, remove it from the heat. It should be looking saucy and delicious by now.
Let it cool down in the saucepan for a bit. As it cools, it'll thicken up even more. Give it a gentle stir now and then to help it cool evenly.
Bottle It Up!
Once your homemade BBQ sauce has cooled down, pour it into an airtight container. You can use a mason jar, a plastic squeeze bottle, or anything that seals well.
Pop it in the fridge to chill. Your sauce is ready to roll whenever you are!
