For the Patties:
2lbsground beef80/20 blend
1teaspoonsalt
½teaspoonblack pepper
½teaspoongarlic powder
½teaspoononion powder
For the Toppings:
8slicescheddar cheese
Lettuce leaves
Tomato slices
Red onion slices
Pickles
Ketchup
Mustard
Mayonnaise
8store-bought burger buns
For the Homemade BBQ Sauce:
1cupketchup
¼cupapple cider vinegar
¼cupbrown sugar
1tablespoonWorcestershire sauce
1tablespoonsmoked paprika
1teaspoongarlic powder
1teaspoononion powder
Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
Preparing the Patties
In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix gently until just combined. Form into 8 equal patties, making a small indent in the center of each patty with your thumb.
Making the BBQ Sauce
In a saucepan, mix together ketchup, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Bring to a simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally.
Reduce heat to low and let the sauce simmer for about 15 minutes, until thickened. Adjust seasoning to taste. Remove from heat and let cool.
Grilling the Burgers
Set your Green Mountain Grill to 450°F. Allow it to preheat fully for even cooking.
Place the patties on the grill and close the lid. Cook for 4-5 minutes per side, until they reach your desired level of doneness. Avoid pressing down on the patties to keep them juicy.
Add a slice of cheddar cheese to each patty during the last minute of grilling. Close the lid to melt the cheese.
Assembling the Burgers
Slice the store-bought buns in half and toast them lightly on the grill if desired.
Spread a layer of homemade BBQ sauce on the bottom bun. Add lettuce, a grilled patty with melted cheese, tomato slices, red onion slices, and pickles. Top with ketchup, mustard, and mayonnaise as desired. Place the top bun over everything.
