Air fryer chicken breast is one of my favorite foods to cook in the air fryer. It comes out crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. They are perfect for a quick dinner.

I’m addicted to air frying chicken that I’ve posted several air fried chicken recipes. Let’s get right to it?

How to cook air fryer chicken breast

Chicken breast is easy to air fry by just following a few simple steps. In three separate bowls, you will need beaten eggs, flour, and a mixture of crushed cornflakes with seasonings. Dip the chicken breast into the flour, then eggs, then into the cornflake mixture. Place chicken breast into the air fryer and cook for 15 at 360F.

Can you cook frozen chicken breast in an air fryer?

Yes, you can air fry chicken breast frozen. You will need to raise the cooking time for an additional 5-10 minutes. For this recipe, the chicken breast I cooked was not frozen.

Is air fried chicken healthy?

Absolutely yes! Chicken is not deep fried in oil. I only sprayed a little bit of nonstick cooking spray to help brown the crust a bit.

What are the best foods to cook in an air fryer?

I’ve posted several air fryer recipes such as my air fried steak, chicken wings, meatloaf, salmon, whole chicken, and pork chops. However, you can also cook vegetables such as asparagus and sweet potatoes.

Can you make battered food in an air fryer?

I do not recommend using wet batter for coating chicken since it will drip down through the air fryer basket and the batter will end up sticking to the basket. The chicken will not turn out looking good.

The best way to bread chicken is with a simple three step coating: Flour, then egg, then crushed cornflake or panko mixture.

Can you stack chicken in an air fryer?

No, I do not recommend stacking chicken. Don’t overcrowd the basket. You want the hot air to flow through. Leave space in between the chicken. For most air fryers, this means 2-3 chicken breast in one layer.

What is the difference between an air fryer and a convection oven?

The big difference is space. In an air fryer, your food is placed in a small chamber allowing the hot air to circulate quickly and cook the food faster. The disadvantage of an air fryer is you can only cook a limited amount of food because of space.

Do you have to preheat the air fryer?

Technically, you do not need to preheat the air fryer. However, I always turn it on for about 3 minutes at 400F to get the element and cooking surface hot.

Ingredients

  • 2 pieces Boneless Skinless Chicken Breast
  • 1 cup Crushed Cornflakes
  • 1 piece Egg beaten
  • ½ cup Flour
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Ground Black Pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Paprika

Instructions

  • Prepare 3 separate bowls. Place beaten egg in a bowl. Place crushed cornflakes in a separate bowl. Finally in the third bowl, add flour and mix in salt, ground black pepper, garlic powder, and paprika.
  • Dip chicken breast into the flour mixture, then egg, then to the crushed cornflakes.
  • Spray a little bit of nonstick cooking spray on both sides of the chicken breast. Place the chicken in the air fryer basket.
  • Set air fryer at 360F and cook for 15 minutes. Flip halfway through cooking time.
  • Rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

*Make sure meat internal temperature reaches 165F. You may have to add a few minutes to the cooking time depending on the size of the chicken breast.
